PHED engages premium customers on service challenges
The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc (PHED) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing service delivery through strategic investments in metering and network expansion.
This was stated during an engagement session with its Maximum Demand (MD) customers where the company highlighted ongoing efforts to address service challenges.
The MD is a customer segment in the PHED mix with high energy demand for industrial production/manufacturing, hotels, institutions, hospitals, and airports among others.
The company’s acting Managing Director, Ochuko Amah, represented by the firm’s Strategy Officer, Okechukwu Okpara, assured customers that PHED is passionate about better service delivery across all customer clusters and has made significant investments in the area of metering, network rehabilitation and expansion, manpower including entering bi-lateral agreements within the value chain.
He stressed that the engagement was to address pertinent issues experienced by Maximum Demand customers and provide a platform for them to voice their concerns and grievances while allowing for constructive dialogue and problem-solving.
During the engagement, the customers were enlightened on the tariff structure, regulatory policies, vandalism, complaints redress mechanism and energy management tips in the build-up to the question and answer session which was very overwhelming as there was active participation.
Ben Ekanem, who is the forum chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in Akwa Ibom State, but came in the capacity of a customer, expressed his delight at the rationale of the program to enable customers to interact facially with their service providers. He advised that the management should be committed to acting on the feedback to instil credibility in customers.
Among the participants were three state legislators in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Asuquo Udoh, Chairman of the House Committee on Power, Water & Utility; Effiong Bob, member, the House Committee on Power, Water & Utility and Uduak Ekpo Ufot, member, House Committee on Power, Water & Utility and the Managing/Director of Ibom Power, Meyen Etukudo.
