Amidst high-level power play and intrigues, Senator Bukola Saraki (APC-Kwara) and Senator Ike Ekweremadu (Enugu-PDP) emerged the senate-president and deputy senate-president respectively.
In the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara (APC-Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi State) defeated Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila to become the speaker of the 8th House of Representatives. Hon. Yusuf Sulaiman Lasun (APC-Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo, Osun State) was elected as the deputy speaker.

The election of Saraki was rigged by the PDP and should be rejected by all right thinking people of the world:
– There was selection and the clerk has some explaining to do…, 51 APC Senator-elect were absent, as well as, at least one PDP-Senator elect ( I imagine there are more than one …see the clip) were also absent, there definitely more than one PDP senator-elect absent because you NASS would not have sent a bus to pick up one person and you’d hear from Ben Bruce that there were more than one also… take a listen to Ben Bruce https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZrGDULpEZQ&feature=youtu.be
