Police arraign man for destroying fence

The police have arraigned Adewale Teluwo before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, for unlawful destruction of the perimetre fence of a property at Mile 12 Area of Owode-Onirin.

The police have arraigned Adewale Teluwo before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, for unlawful destruction of the perimetre fence of a property at Mile 12 Area of Owode-Onirin.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) arraigned Teluwo before Magistrate Olatunde Yewande Adefope on a two-count charge brought against him.

The police prosecutor, Moruf Animashaun told the court that Teluwo with others, now at large, on or about November 25, 2021, around Mile 12 Area of Owode-Onirin, Lagos did conspired amongst themselves to commit a felony to wit: unlawful interference with property.

Animashaun said they destroyed the perimetre fence of the property belonging to one Isiaka Akande Abdullahi.

He said their offence contradicts and punishable under Section 340 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state 2015.

Teluwo, however, pleaded not guilty to the two counts charge.

Following his plea, the prosecution counsel prayed the court to remand the defendant pending determination of the suit.

But the defendant’s counsel, S.O Ogunbiyi and M. Jackson prayed the court to grant their client bail, adding that his offence is a bailable offence.

Magistrate Adefope therefore admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

She ordered that address of the surety must have to be verified by the prosecutor and subsequently adjourned trial to June 21, 2023.
