
The police in Kaduna State have arrested 13 cultists in connection with robbery.
The suspects were arrested through operatives attached to the Divisional Headquarters, Sabon Gari, Zaria.
The acting spokesperson for the Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mansir Hassan, in a statement, said the suspects confessed to be members of Aye confraternity, from different tertiary institutions and chose Graceland area as their rendezvous for initiation.
Hassan said: “On September 10, at about 3:10 a.m., the unlawful group armed with machete and other dangerous weapons, stormed Graceland community, breaking into homes, inflicting injuries and robbing inhabitants of their belongings, which include mobile phones, money, jewelries, and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards.
“Police operatives trailed them to their hideout in the bushes and arrested 13 out of the yet to be ascertained number of persons. The arrested hoodlums are cooperating with police towards arresting fleeing members.”
The Commissioner of Police CP, Musa Garba, while commending the operatives, called on members of the public to always report to the police any suspicious individual or group.
He also urged parents and guardians to take interest in the activities of their wards, to prevent them from indulging in illegalities.
