Police arrest man for allegedly stealing cable at Dangote’s refinery

The Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, arrested one of the suspected armed robbers, who were vandalising cables and stealing irons at Dangote Refinery even as two others were arrested for assaulting a police Inspector.

The Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, arrested one of the suspected armed robbers, who were vandalising cables and stealing irons at Dangote Refinery even as two others were arrested for assaulting a police Inspector.

The suspects were said to be conveying the cables to Epe and its environ through water ways when they when they were sighted by residents who put a call across to the police. 
 
The Lagos Command, which was alerted when the suspects were sighted at Emun village behind Lekki Free Trade Zone,
mobilised and swung into action but the suspects fled in different directions on sighting the police.

However, 39-year-old Ayo Babalola of Nuforija Epe was arrested.

One locally made long single barrel, one live cartridge mercury CPRO flying boat engine and sum of N48, 500, were recovered from him.
  
According to the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect was taken to the station and will be transferred to the headquarters soonest while investigation is ongoing.
 
Meanwhile, a police officer, Inspector Rowland Uankhehi was, yesterday, beaten to pulp by one Ifeanyi Akeme and Chinedu Enyinnaya (manager of Ohafia Transport Cele, Lagos).

The duo were said to have attacked the officer after he arrested a motorcycle rider along Okota road. 

The inspector sustained various degrees of injuries before he was rescued.
 
Hundeyin said the suspects were arrested and will be charged to court.
