The police in Kaduna have arrested 40-year-old Hassan Yahaya from Katsina State, who allegedly lured a 25-year-old Christian lady, Grace Nahemiah, to First ECWA Church, Gidan Ways, Jama’a Local Council of the state and abused her sexually.
Kaduna State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Joseph Hayab, who confirmed his arrest, yesterday, said the police was invited and the man was apprehended for proper interrogation and better understanding of the reason behind such act in a place of worship.
The Guardian learnt that Yahaya had carnal knowledge with the victim on several occasions before luck ran out against him, when he was caught inside the Church, while forcefully having an immoral affair with the young woman.
Officials of the church told newsmen, yesterday, that the intention of the man, by dragging the woman into the Church, was yet to be ascertained.
Chairman of CAN in the state, Reverend Hayab, said: “When my attention was drawn to the illicit act, l quickly alerted the security to avert a situation where somebody or a group of persons will take the law into their hands to cause a breach of the peace.
“We are in a state that is governed by law. So, we are law abiding citizens and will ensure the full wrath of the law takes its cause on whoever that is found wanting.
“We will pursue the case to its logical conclusion by using legal means to ensure justice is done. This we are doing to ensure we understand ourselves through legal means, so that whoever is found wanting should face the music and serve as a deterrent to others, who want to use such evil intentions to cause confusion in the society.”
