Anambra State Police Command, yesterday, arrested a 34-year-old murder suspect, Mr. Onwele Anayo, at Nkwelle-Ezunaka, in Oyi Council of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Anambra Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement, yesterday, said Anayo was arrested for the murder of a three-year-old girl, Divine Eze, residing in Hillview Estate, Nkwelle -Ezunaka.

The statement said: “The Anambra police operatives have, today, June 16, 2022, arrested one 34-year-old Onwele Anayo, for the murder of a three-year-old Divine Eze, residing in Hillview Estate, Nkwelle -Ezunaka.

“Preliminary information shows that the suspect visited the father of the victim yesterday, June 15, 2022, and spent the night in the victim’s house.

“In the early hours of today, June 16, 2022, an argument ensued between the father and the suspect. The suspect, Anayo, took the child (Divine) as he was sleeping and killed him, by hitting him on the floor severally.”

“Mr. Anayo took a knife from the room, and pursue the father around the house, threatening to kill him.

“Police operatives have visited the scene and recovered the body of the child and investigation is ongoing.”
