The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of former deputy governor, Prof. Onje Gyewado by unknown gunmen at his residence in Rinse in Wamba Local Council.
The incident took place, yesterday, when suspected bandits invaded his house, and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
A family member, however, confirmed that the kidnappers had made several attempts at kidnapping him in the past.
He added that the kidnappers had called and threatened to kill Gyewado without asking for any ransom.
Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, Maiyaki Baba, said the command had begun search operation to rescue him.
