Police debunk kidnap report in Kaduna
Kaduna State Police Command has debunked reports on social media that about 30 persons were kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Yakubu Sabo, stated that miscreants fabricated the report to create panic.
He added: “It is unfortunate that this fake news coincided with a sad incident on April 1, 2019, about 1830hrs when some armed men intercepted a Toyota Hilux van near Gidan Visa along Abuja-Kaduna expressway, opened fire on the vehicle, injured one Mshelia Sulaiman and took away other occupants.
However, following a meeting of the Kaduna State Security Council summoned yesterday by Governor Nasir el-Rufai to assess the situation, security agencies have begun to reinforce their presence on major roads in the state.
The governor’s spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, said his principal presided over the meeting via teleconference from Dakar, Senegal, where he accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari.
