A robbery suspect has been shot dead by men of the Ogun State Police Command along Sagamu-Ikenne expressway.

It was learned that the suspect, in the company of his colleagues, was operating between Adelex filling station and Ladgroup company on the highway on Sunday, dispossessing people of their valuables at gunpoint.

Through a distress call made to the police, the DPO Ikenne division, CSP Ndoukauba Onuma, mobilised his patrol team to the scene. On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums engaged them in a gun battle consequent upon which one of the robbers was shot dead, while others escaped into the bush with gunshot injuries.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, said a mock gun and a Toyota Corolla car with registration number KNN 84 TD, which was snatched from the owner, were recovered at the scene.

He appealed to the public, especially hospitals and traditional healers to notify the police if they sight anybody with gunshot injury in their area.

MEANWHILE, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Fatai Ismail, aged 23, a.k.a. Small, an alleged armed robber who has been terrorising residents of Lamgbasa area of Ajah.

The suspect, who confirmed he is a cultist, was arrested by the police command in 2017 for a similar offense and charged to court.

In the same vein, the command has arrested nine arsonists that set ablaze Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government secretariat on October 20, during the recent #EndSARS protest in Lagos.
