Operatives of Delta State Police Command’s Decoy Squad have arrested a 40- year-old suspected cultist, Godfrey Tietie, a.k.a ‘Don Baby’, of Oghara Town in Ethiope West Local Council of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest, said the notorious cultist was nabbed on August 20, at Ogorode Road by Texaco in Sapele, near his home town, Oghara.

Edafe said the police acted on credible intelligence gathered on the activities of the notorious cultist who had been terrorising Oghara and environs.

According to him, the operatives stormed his premises in a covert operation and arrested the 40-year-old with a locally made revolver pistol.

He said: “Investigation revealed that the suspect was a member of Eiye confraternity and suspected to be a gun runner, who supplies guns to cultists in Sapele, Oghara, and environs.”

Meanwhile, a police patrol team attached to ‘C’ division Asaba, the state capital, has been after a suspected male gunrunner, who was on the run.

Edafe explained that the police and vigilantes on patrol around Second Niger Bridge sighted the young man carrying a sack, but the suspect on noticing the police took to flight leaving behind the bag.
“When the bag was searched, one AK-47 rifle was recovered and effort to arrest the fleeing suspect was ongoing,” he added.
