Police nab suspected drug Baron, two female accomplices in Warri metropolis

The Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse, with the arrest of a suspected drug baron and two female accomplices in Warri metropolis.

The command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, confirmed the development, stating that the latest operation forms part of intensified efforts by the police to combat the circulation and abuse of hard drugs across the state.

According to him, the suspects identified as Favor Isaac, 25, Favour Felix, 24, and Samson Precious, 19, were apprehended following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected drug peddlers operating within the Ogbomoro and Ugolo communities in Warri.

Edafe disclosed that operatives attached to the Area Command, Effurun, carried out a covert operation on May 7, 2026, at about 9:20 p.m., which led to the arrest of the suspects.

He explained that during the operation, police operatives executed a search warrant at the suspects’ hideout located along River Road in Ogbomoro community, where various suspected illicit substances were recovered.

Items recovered from the scene included 21 bottles of CSC Codeine, two canisters containing Nitrous Oxide popularly referred to as “laughing gas,” two packs of suspected psychoactive chewing gum branded as “Highness Gum,” as well as 640 grams of substances suspected to be Canadian Loud concealed in different bags and containers.

The police said preliminary investigations revealed that one Rukewe Tega Isaac, who is currently on the run, is believed to be the major supplier behind the drug network.

The command added that efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspect alongside other members of the syndicate linked to the illicit drug operation.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against drug trafficking and related criminal activities across the state.

The police commissioner warned that the widespread abuse and circulation of illicit drugs have continued to fuel violent crimes, cultism, and other social vices among youths.

He therefore appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting the police and other security agencies with timely and credible information that could aid the fight against criminal networks and substance abuse.
