Police neutralise bandits, foil attack in Katsina
The Katsina State Police Command said it neutralised suspected bandits and foiled an attack in Dutsinma Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, in a statement, said the incident occurred on Sunday at about midnight after the bandits attacked security operatives in the area.
“On February 23rd, 2025, at about 0057 hrs, a distress call was received at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected armed bandits armed with dangerous weapons attacked officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on duty along the Dutsinma-Kurfi highway,” Aliyu said.

“Upon receipt of the report, promptly operatives responded to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gun duel, successfully foiling the attack as some of the suspected assailants escaped the scene with various degrees of gunshot injuries.
“During the course of scanning the scene, the body of a neutralised suspected armed bandit was recovered from the scene.
“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds.”
