Police parade native doctor, suspected cultists, others in Akwa Ibom

A native doctor and five suspected cultists who turned Nwaniba axis of Akwa Ibom to killing field during the brutal cult clash have met their waterloo.

The cultists were said to have been responsible for the clash along Udo Ekpo Mkpo, Nwaniba and Ekpri Nsukarra axis in May 2023, which claimed the lives of more than 12 persons, and led to loss of goods worth millions of naira.

Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi stated this while parading arrested criminal suspects at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia.

He said five additional suspected cultists involved in Nwaniba brutal cult clash, were on June 13, 2023, at about 10:30a.m, arrested, after a painstaking investigation.

He listed those arrested as Kemfon Inyang Imeh a.k.a Laptop, Hogan Edem Obongedem a.k.a Eburutu, Brown Uduak Emmanuel a.k.a Spunky and Godwin Effiong Okon a.k.a Buy and Buy.

The Commissioner said the police also arrested Clement Sunday Udofia a.k.a Ikang Inwang, the native doctor, who used to prepare charms for the cultists.

“As a Command, in line with the directives of the current Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to flush out criminal elements, we remain committed to providing the best of Policing Services for the good People of Akwa Ibom State in line with international best practices,” he assured.

Durosinmi thanked the acting IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun, for giving the right direction for effective policing.

He also praised the Akwa Ibom State government for its support, sister security agencies for the robust synergy and the good people of the state for partnering with the police in an effort to curb crimes.
