Police present N42 million cheques to deceased officers’ families in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has presented cheques worth more than N42.3 million to the families/next of kin of deceased police officers who died while in active service.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.

A statement by spokesperson for the command, Abubakar Aliyu, said presentation of the cheques was part of the IGP’s family welfare insurance scheme, which is given to the families of deceased police officers.

The statement said the cheques’ presentation, which was held at the Command Headquarters, witnessed the presentation of various cheques of different amounts to the families/next of kin of deceased police officers who died while in active service.

The statement added: “Commissioner of Police appreciates the efforts of the Inspector-General of Police in improving the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and urges the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for their own benefit.”

Meanwhile, one of the benefiting family members, Philip Paul, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the Inspector-General of Police for the welfare package, and promised to use the money judiciously.”
