Police promise to rescue abducted female lawyer


The Rivers State police command has promised to rescue the 25-year-old lawyer, Abisola Ajayi, popularly known as Paulette, who was abducted from her residence at Wosu Street in Rumuokurusi, Port Harcourt, by gunmen.

Spokesman of the command, Nnamdi Omoni, while confirming the incident, said the police had mobilised resources and materials to ensure the quick release of the victim.


Omoni said: “We are aware of the incident though we got the information from grapevine we have mobilised resources and materials to ensure timely release of the victim.”

Meanwhile, President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata, said he had asked for the help of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; the state’s Attorney-General, Zacchaeus Adangor, and the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, to ensure the safe return of the young female lawyer.

He said the NBA had set up a task force to work with the relevant authorities to achieve quick results.

Also, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinakalu, has urged the relevant authorities to work together to ensure the quick release of the victim.
