Police rescue 13 kidnapped victims, arrest five for armed robbery
The Nigeria Police Force has rescued 13 kidnapped victims and arrested five suspects linked to armed robbery as part of intensified efforts to combat criminal activities during the yuletide season.
Police spokesman ACP Muyiwa Adejobi announced the operations, which were conducted in various states, including Lagos and Kwara, resulting in the release of hostages and the recovery of firearms.
On December 27, 2024, officers from the Kwara State Command raided a kidnappers’ den in the Idofin-Igbana area following reports of abductions. Despite resistance, the operatives overpowered the criminals, leading to the rescue of all 13 hostages. The kidnappers fled with injuries, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
In Lagos, police responded to a public disturbance at Pinnacle Depot, Lekki, on December 28, and arrested two individuals, Lawan Mustapha and Aina Daniel, both 38. A search yielded a double-barrel rifle, 90 live cartridges, and five model rifles. The suspects remain in custody for further investigation.

Later that day, officers apprehended three suspected armed robbers in GRA Ikeja. Recovered items included a locally made pistol, four live cartridges, and two cutlasses. The suspects are also in custody and will be prosecuted after investigations.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to public safety and emphasized the ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping, armed robbery, and other crimes.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reiterated the Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. The Force will continue its operations, leveraging all available resources to eradicate these heinous crimes from our society.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to create a safer environment for all Nigerians.” Adejobi said.
