Kano State Police Command yesterday warned Muslims faithful and residents to be security conscious and mindful of strange movement in their communities.

State Police Commissioner Muhammad Abbati Dikko insisted worshippers attending various Eid grounds in the state on Sallah day would not be allowed into praying grounds with any object other than praying mats.

Dikko warned worshippers attending fun centres during the Salah period to be extra vigilant of objects and people in their community with a view to reporting any threat to security agencies.

Dikko added, “People attending recreational centres and places of gatherings during the Sallah celebrations should be extra vigilant by taking good cognizance of people and objects around, with a view to report any suspicious movements to security agencies.”

He also charged motorists to obey traffic rules and avoid reckless driving in the city centres to forestall needless road crashes.

And to reduce risk of accident across the nation’s highways, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed no fewer than 200, 000 officers and 600 patrol vehicles.

Stating that the move was part of its 2016 strategic approach to improve road safety in the country, FRSC said that it also deployed 50 ambulances, 85 motorbikes and 15 tow trucks to ensure sanity on the nation’s highways.

FRSC’s Head, Media Relations and Strategy Corps Commander Bisi Kazeem, yesterday in Abuja said the deployment would cover “23 designated critical corridors and black spots.”

In Kwara State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday said it had deployed 2,500 personnel to ensure protection of lives and property in the state before, during and after the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.

State Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Pedro Ideba, who disclosed this in Ilorin, said the personnel, who are already in all the 16 local government councils of the state will ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration.

Ideba said the NSCDC is collaborating with other security operatives in the state to achieve a violent free Sallah celebration in Kwara as effective security networks could only be strewn around all the existing military and para military personnel.

He said some of the NSCDC personnel have been detailed to all Eid praying grounds and residences of prominent personalities in the state.
