The warning followed reported cases of missing genitals in some local councils in the state since the past three weeks, and mob actions against suspected perpetrators in a few cases.

The police warned that any mob action amounted to taking laws into their hands and would not be tolerated. The Command also warned the public against accusing some persons of alleged mysterious disappearance of genitals.

Spokesperson for the Command, Ramham Nansel, in a statement, warned that medical examinations conducted on victims with cases of mysterious genital disappearance in Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Lafia and Keffi Local Councils of the state gave all the victims a clean bill of health.

“In view of the foregoing, the Nasarawa Police Command wishes to state that cases of alleged mysterious genital disappearance are baseless, unfounded and without proof.

“Anyone caught engaging in mob action and jungle justice, or raising false alarms leading to grievous assault or harm on any member of the public shall be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the police warned.

The Guardian gathered that in some communities where the cases were reported, pleasantries and other social interaction, such as greetings, response to questions to unknown persons are reported to be the device used by perpetrators of genital manipulators for ritual aims.

The alleged crime has led to hostility by residents to unknown and unfamiliar faces, and has created tension and fears across the state.
