Oyo Command moves to stop cult’s founder’s day celebration
Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, raised the alarm over intelligence indicating that secret confraternities had planned to mark their yearly ‘777’ anniversary across the state.
In a statement, Spokesperson of the Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the police had reinforced security across all divisions and area commands to safeguard public order.
She warned that any attempt “to stage unlawful gatherings, processions, or anniversary events linked to cultism would be met with swift and decisive police action”
ALSO, the Ondo State Police Command has said that activities associated with the July 7 celebrations would not be tolerated.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, warned that cult-related events, including initiations and other violent acts, remain illegal and would draw a firm response.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and share credible information with the police.
MEANWHILE, the Oyo State Police Command has deployed scores of its officers across the state ahead of the planned Founders’ Day celebration of the Neo-Black Movement of Africa (Aiye Confraternity), commonly known as the Black Axe Cult.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, stated this, yesterday, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, the state capital.
Osifeso stressed that the Command had conducted multiple sensitisation sessions with key stakeholders, including hoteliers, lounge owners, and operators of studio apartments, as part of its proactive security measures.
He warned them against making their facilities available for hosting gatherings associated with cult groups known for violent activities.
He also called on parents, guardians, community leaders, and influential figures to collaborate with law enforcement agents in mitigating the risk.
