Pope instals Ajang as bishop of Lafia
Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis, has inaugurated Monsignor David Ajang as Bishop of Lafia Catholic Diocese.
The Vicar-General of the Archdiocese of Jos, Monsignor Cletus Gotan, confirmed the development yesterday in Jos, Plateau State.
Ajang was appointed the second bishop of the 20-year-old Lafia Diocese, following the elevation and transfer of Matthew Ishaya-Audu, the first bishop of the diocese.
The Pope’s representative at the occasion, the Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, Antonio Guido-Filipazzi, congratulated the new bishop and advised him to be a good shepherd.
Guido-Filipazzi tasked the bishop to make priests under his diocese his closest neighbours and friends, while eschewing discrimination.
Ishaya-Audu expressed gladness for the successful inauguration of his successor.
