Port Harcourt area one customs collects N17.8b revenue

The Port Harcourt Area One Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Rivers State has collected N17.8billion revenue in the first quarter of this year.

The Port Harcourt Area One Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Rivers State has collected N17.8billion revenue in the first quarter of this year.

Customs Area Controller for the Command, Mohammed Bande Boyi, disclosed this in a statement issued by Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, Oscar Ivara, saying the figure exceeded its collections within the same period of 2018 with N4.4billion.

Boyi attributed the feat to higher volumes of vessel traffic at the port, increased commitment of the command’s officers and regular interaction with stakeholders to achieve compliance.

He commended freight forwarders, licensed customs agents, shipping lines and other operators in the port for their cooperation.

He also expressed hope that the command will exceed its 2019 target with the sustained support it receives from other government agencies and customs units like the Strike Force.
