Presidency, yesterday, declared that the overall winner of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) of the Year Awards will go home with a car, a house, a shop and a cash prize, all valued at N220 million.
In the other categories, winners will go home with prizes worth over N50 million each after a transparent process vetted by a screening committee made up of agencies of government collaborating with the office of the Vice President.
The agencies are the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON); the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN); Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS); National Agency for Foods, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC); Nigeria Sugar Development Agency; Industrial Training Fund (ITF); and Bank of Industries (BOI); among others.
Briefing newsmen on the selection of deserving awardees for the seventh edition this year, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation and MSME, Mr Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, said they would include the inaugural category of people living with disabilities, who would also be given special consideration to compete for the numerous prizes.
Adekunle-Johnson said the initiative was in keeping with the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s efforts to support established, budding and prospective MSMEs across the country.
