Presidency’s media unit, others visit family of deceased director, Abuah
Workers with the media and protocol unit of the State House yesterday paid a condolence visit to the immediate family of the late Director of Information, Mr. Justin Onuorah Abuah, at his Apo, Abuja residence.
The delegation was led by presidential spokesmen, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, accompanied by a deputy director and correspondents.Adesina, who is the Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to the President, described Abuah’s passage on Sunday as a tragic and monumental loss to the State House’s press family.
Similarly, Shehu, who is the Senior Special Assistant, said Abuah was a pillar of support, an icon and a unique individual who served seven presidents.The pair told his widow, Loretta and three children, Chinedum, Chike and Amaechi as well as his brother, Dr. Amold Abuah, that OJ, as he was fondly called, was very competent and excellent on his job.
“Words failed me to actually describe him (Abuah). When he passed, the first thing that came to mind was that a competent man has gone. He related well with many people. We urge you to keep his memory alive. Be comforted and consoled,” Adesina remarked.
He said the State House would like to be fully involved in Abuah’s burial plans.Shehu said they were just beginning to learn from a man whose uniqueness led to his serving seven presidents.The presidential aide who said they were initially angry that his ill-health was not known to them, noted that he was one who did not like to bother others about his pains.
