President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Deputy Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, as Acting Corp Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), following expiration of the second tenure of Boboye Oyeyemi as head of the agency.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Deputy Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, as Acting Corp Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), following expiration of the second tenure of Boboye Oyeyemi as head of the agency.

Conveying the President’s message at Oyeyemi’s pulling-out-parade, in Abuja, yesterday, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, said Biu would head the commission in acting capacity, pending the appointment of a substantive corps marshal.

In his farewell message to personnel, Oyeyemi urged the corps to build on successes recorded during his eight-year tenure.

He said: “No leader does anything alone. It is a formidable team of selfless and dutiful officers across all ranks that have contributed to the transformative achievements of over 34 years of existence of the corps.”

“During my tenure as Corps Marshal, and with support of the management team, we were able to record successful projects and initiatives; we ensured continuity of projects and initiatives started by earlier administrations.”

Oyeyemi expressed confidence that he was leaving behind an agency that would continue to strive for excellence in service delivery to Nigerians.

He added: “Road safety management has become a priority on the agenda of the current administration, following through sustainability of efforts of past governments, as far back as the pre-1988 period when Nigeria’s road safety profile was unpleasant because of road carnage and absence of a coordinated system on road safety. We resolved to alter the narrative for the better.”
