President eulogises Ikonne at 90
President Muhammadu Buhari has described the Enyi I of Aba, Eze Isaac Ikonne, as a king with the virtues of humility, generosity and human kindness, qualities needed in building a just, harmonious and prosperous society.
The president, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, joined the Abia Traditional Council in celebrating the purpose-driven and exemplary leadership Ikonne, who has served for more than 44 years on the throne, on his 90th birthday.
Buhari affirmed that the royal father, at 90, “exudes uncommon wisdom, strength and courage in leading his people and serving the nation,” which clearly points to the grace of God for longevity, and good health.
Recalling their encounters, including a visit to the Presidential Villa in August 2018, the president expressed gratitude to the monarch for endorsing his candidacy in 2015, as well as support and wise counsel over the years, commending his signature tune of unity and empowering the youths for a greater Nigeria.
He congratulated the people and government of Abia State, family and friends of the royal father, praying for more years of good health for the nonagenarian.
