The Rivers State House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo has screened and confirmed five nominees to be appointed as Chairman and members of the Rivers State Assembly Service Commission.

Also ratified were nominees for Chairman and members to be appointed into the Rivers State local government service commission.

This followed a correspondence from Governor Siminalayi Fubara requesting the Assembly to screen and ratify the nominees as read by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo today, at the Hallowed Chambers, Admin Block, Government House

They are Dr Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja as Chairman, Barrister Jones Ogbonda, Dr Kennedy Ebeku, Soberekon Clark and Engineer Kingston Sylvernus will serve as members.

While Good life Ben will serve as chairman for the local government commission, Chief Emmanuel Jaja, Mrs Betty Warmate, Barrister Jerome Chimenem, Prince Philip Okparaji, and Christian Amadi.

Commencing debate on the screening, the leader, Sokari Good boy Sokari, said the credibility of people nominated by Fubara to serve in the two commissions is overwhelming and appealed to the house to give them speedy ratification.

Also in his contribution, the Deputy Speaker Timothy Orubienimigha aligned with the leader, adding that all nominees are perfect, urging the House for a speedy confirmation of the nominees

Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, who at the end of the debate, divided the house, confirmed the nominees through a voice vote.

Oko-Jumbo noted that the nominees were of proven track records, pointing out that three out of the five nominees for the Assembly Service Commission were members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He, however, said their ratification is a call to service while noting that the governor was exceptional in his choice of nominees.

Three of the nominees who were members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were asked to take a bow and leave the hollowed chambers.
