Prof Gwarzo urges FG to name university after late Dantata

Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has called on the Federal Government to immortalise the late elder statesman and business icon, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, by naming a university in the Northwest zone after him.

Prof. Gwarzo made the appeal on Wednesday, describing such a gesture as a fitting tribute to Dantata’s immense contributions to education and national development.

“I am calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria to immortalise the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata by naming a university in the region after him in view of his contributions to the education sector in particular,” Gwarzo said.

He emphasised that naming an institution after the late philanthropist would preserve his legacy and inspire future generations to embrace the values of service and generosity.

According to Gwarzo, Dantata’s commitment to education was “extraordinary,” noting that he provided funding, infrastructure, and scholarships for underprivileged students through the Dantata Foundation and other charitable initiatives. He was also the first Chancellor of Al-Qalam University in Katsina.

“Dantata invested heavily in education and was a great philanthropist par excellence. He will continue to be remembered for his immense contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria and the West African sub-region,” he added.

Gwarzo said immortalising Dantata would be deeply appreciated by beneficiaries of his generosity and the wider public who admired his lifelong dedication to uplifting others.
