The Police command in Bauchi State has pledged to provide adequate security during the planned nationwide protest scheduled for Aug. 1.

The Spokesman of the command, SP Ahmed Wakil said this in a statement on Tuesday in Bauchi.

According to Wakil, the command is working in snergy with other security agencies to protect lives and property during the protest.

Nigerian Protest

“In anticipation of this event, the Command in collaboration with other sister security agencies, has put in place extensive security measures to safeguard lives and property.

“This includes the deployment of tactical teams, uniformed and plainclothes personnel, and intelligence assets to protect areas that may be vulnerable to potential disruptions,” he said.

He urged the conveners of the protest to provide their details to the command, adding that such information should outline the routes; assembly points and expected duration of the protest,

“As well as measures to prevent any criminal elements from hijacking the peaceful protest”.

While reiterating commitment to protect lives and property, Wakil warned against acts capable of disrupting relative peace in the state.

He also urged residents of the state to provide credible information to the security agencies to enable them to fight crimes.

“All the information given will be treated with absolute confidentiality,” he said
