PSC deploys 40 officials to monitor conduct of policemen
The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday said it would deploy over 40 of its officials to monitor the conduct of policemen on duty during the September 22 election.
PSC said the team would be led by Barrister Rommy Mom, a commissioner and member of the board of the commission. The first batch of the monitoring team is billed to leave Abuja today.
The Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement in Abuja, affirmed that the commission’s monitors would be deployed to the three senatorial districts and 30 local government areas of the state.
The PSC Chairman, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, said the Osun monitoring exercise would serve as a test run for the 2019 general elections.
According to him, the monitors have been availed with the guidelines for the conduct of police officers on electoral duty.
“Policemen on electoral duties in Osun State should ensure that they operate within the stipulations of the guidelines as offenders will be made to face the full weight of the law,” Smith warned.
The PSC has dedicated the following telephone lines for immediate contact in the event of any infractions: 08033345362, 08023313250, 08084385726 and 08055606514.
