Pwajok Files Petition Against Lalong

THE Elections Petition Tribunal in Plateau State yesterday had its inaugural sitting with Senator Gyang Pwajok, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) filing a petition before it against the Governor-elect, Barrister Simon Bako Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While a team of legal practitioners led by Mr. Charles Obishai (SAN) represented Pwajok, no single lawyer or any individual represented Lalong and his APC.
Obishai asked the tribunal headed by Mr. Justice Candide Johnson for a short adjournment to enable him to serve Lalong and APC as they were not aware of any court case.
The tribunal, however, granted his prayers and adjourned the matter to Monday, April 27, to enable him to serve the respondents.
Speaking with journalists, Obishai gave reason why he sought a short adjournment, saying that having regard to the short time given and more so that weekend had started and politicians are busy preparing for the inauguration, “we may have difficulty in effecting service on the Governor-elect of Plateau State who is the first respondent, and that is why we say we apply for short adjournment so that it can be served through his sponsor, the APC.”
