Rainstorm demolishes valuables, renders thousands homeless in Ondo

A heavy rainstorm in Ondo State has demolished no fewer than 60 houses and properties worth millions of naira.

The terrible incident, which occurred at Gaga Area, Akure, Fiday night, blew off roofs and structures, while some vehicles were trapped under fallen trees.

The Guardian gathered that some religious centres were also badly damaged.

An eyewitness narrated that the entire community has been thrown into total darkness because the rainstorm reportedly uprooted many electricity poles.

The residents and victims urged the state government, the National Emergency Management Agency and other stakeholders to assist them, lamenting that many of them had been rendered homeless.

Head of Gaga community, Mr. Oluwole Omotosho, who spoke with journalists yesterday, implored the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu to assist the community with relief materials.
