Lagos govt seeks cooperation on the relocation of Okobaba sawmill

Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has urged Nigerian students to remain worthy ambassadors of peace, unity and commonality for the good of the society and country.

She stated this while hosting children participants across the 36 states of the federation at the just concluded 35th National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) at the Parliament, Marina, Lagos.

The governor’s wife, who spoke while presenting gift items, which included tablets and computers, to the students that participated in one competition or the other at the festival, said that the decision to host them at the Parliament, State House, Marina, was intentional, saying the objective is to give them a sense of history.

MEANWHILE, Lagos State Government has urged members of the Oko-Baba Sawmillers Association to keep their own side of the bargain by mobilising their members for the planned relocation to a permanent site to Agbowa-Ikosi in lkorodu.

The state’s Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, who stated this during a meeting with members of the association, at the weekend, in Lagos, said the state government would not relocate the sawmilling activities from its present location in Ebute-Metta until a successful outcome of engendering efficient and sustainable land use at both end was achieved in line with the relocation plan.
