Remi Tinubu not holding joint national prayers — Spokesman

Oluremi Tinubu

The Office of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday refuted circulating reports claiming she is organising a National Prayer for Nigeria.

Earlier, it was reported that the First Lady and the National Security Advisor, Nuhu Ribadu, were set to lead a national prayer session bringing together Christian and Muslim leaders, organized in partnership with religious communities to promote unity and faith in addressing the nation’s challenges.

Tinubu’s spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, however, described the reports as “unfounded and misleading.”

“Consequently, anyone who might have come across the purported news of the joint National Prayer for Nigeria should disregard it as false,” Kukoyi said.

“Whilst the First Lady, a Christian and strong advocate of prayer and praying for Nigeria, believes that prayer is an act that must be done willingly, conscientiously, and correctly, she also believes that praying for Nigeria is the responsibility of every Nigerian, irrespective of religious belief, political affiliation, tribe, or tongue.”

Kukoyi urged members of the public to verify the authenticity of any news or event involving the First Lady of Nigeria or her Office through official channels.

“Kindly be advised accordingly,” she added.
