Reps issue minister 48-hour subpoena
The House of Representatives Committee on Civil Society Organisations and Donor Agencies yesterday issued the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clems Agba, a 48-hour ultimatum to appear before it.
Chairman of the committee, Idris Kabiru (APC, Kano), noted that the minister had failed to appear before the committee, despite countless letters of the invitation extended to his office.
Two employees of the ministry – Abdullahi Yakubu (assistant director) and Oluseyi Fatuyi (deputy director) – were not allowed to stand in for the minister because they did not have letters authorising them to do such.
While addressing the committee, Fatuyi begged for leniency, adding that the minister was always ready to interface with the committee.
