Alhaji Zakari Angulu-Dobi, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Abuja South Constituency, has advised youths in Gwagwalada Area Council to shun violence and embrace peace during election campaign.

Angulu-Dobi gave the advice on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dobi near Gwagwalada.

He described the recent incident of youths attacking a community in Dobi during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign as `unfortunate.’

He called on the Commissioner of Police to look into the issue and caution the youths on the importance of peace during and after election.

“You do not go to campaign with young men carrying all sorts of weapons.

“It is expected that every contestant shows the people that he will bring about peace at all times.

“I have personally visited the village and met with the Village Head to discuss the need to shun violence.

“This place is ours and we should not allow anyone to destroy it.

“The police said that some arrests have been made and more would be made.

“I advice all party stalwarts on campaign to inform the police to provide security to avoid re-occurrence,’’ he said.

The legislator also advised the chairman of the area council, to reach out to the aggrieved members of APC and eligible voters to shun violence.

NAN recalls that some youths recently invaded Dobi community with weapons and inflicted injury on innocent people during the APC campaign in the area.
