Reps reconvene, pledge electoral, other reforms
The House of Representatives yesterday reconvened after the Christmas and New Year break with a pledge to wide-ranging reforms in the electoral and petroleum sectors as well as amendment of the constitution.
The Spokesperson of the House, Mr. Benjamin Kalu, gave the assurance shortly after Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila adjourned deliberations to today in honour of the late Adamu Mohammed Fagen Gawu, who passed on earlier in the month.
Kalu said that the lower legislative chamber would, among others, explore an amendment of the constitution to address issues relating to security of lives and property of the citizenry.
He said: “Part of the amendment of the constitution must be reflective of the desire of our people who are at the receiving end of insecurity in the land which is alarming.
