Resolve dispute with ASUU or face nationwide strike, NLC warns FG

• Gives FG four four-week ultimatum,declares ‘no pay, no work’

Federal Government has four weeks to resolve the ongoing industrial dispute with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) or face nationwide industrial action, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened.

Speaking yesterday after the organ meeting of the congress, the President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero said NLC was determined to end frequent industrial squabbles in the education sector.

NLC and its affiliates also declared ‘ no pay, no work’, in response to the Federal Government declaration of ‘no work, no pay’ policy as a result of the ongoing two weeks warning strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The unions include ASUU, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, (NASU), the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP).
