Returnee IDPs in Borno get food items




Wife of the President, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari and committee members on humanitarian crisis in the Northeast have distributed food items to returnee Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The distribution in five local government councils was to encourage other displaced persons still taking refuge in Maiduguri camps to return to their liberated communities.

Presenting the food items at the Government House, Maiduguri yesterday, the wife of the president who was represented by the Secretary of the Committee, Zuwaira Gambo said: “This exercise which is a continuous one is to be extended to all victims of violence across the country.

“It is mainly aimed at cushioning the hardships being experienced by returning IDPs, as they begin to pick up their lives in liberated communities of Gwoza, Mafa, Dikwa, Askira/Uba and Magumeri.”

She said the nutritional food collected were from the ‘Get Involved’ initiatives, under Mrs. Buhari’s “Future Assured” programme, where individuals, agencies, parastatals, friends, associates and organizations donated in cash or kind to the office of the First Lady to assist victims of Boko Haram and other related violence in the country.
