The lingering battle over the rightful owner of River Park Estate, Abuja, has continued with Dr. Adeniran Ogunmuyiwa, disclosing that he allegedly founded JonahCapital Nigeria Ltd.
Ademuyiwa was reacting to a recent statement by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, suggesting that JonahCapital Nigeria Ltd, owners of River Park Estate Abuja, were Ghanaians.
In a statement issued yesterday, Ogunmuyiwa insisted that he founded JonahCapital Nigeria Limited in 2006 (with CAC Reg. No. 669754). He added that he had instructed the Law Firm of L.D. Shwarkuka & Associates to incorporate the company with himself and his wife as 60 per cent majority shareholders.
Recall that the ownership of the estate has been controversial for some time. But Ogunmuyiwa believed that the feud was allegedly caused by the Ghanaians, whom he accused of trying to take over JonahCapital through dubious means.
He said: “The Ghanaians led by Kojo Mensah only tried to take over ownership of the company February last year 2024 when they increased the share capital from 1,000,000 to 100,000,000 – creating 99,000,000 shares without the knowledge of any of the company directors.
“The Ghanaians led by Kojo Mensah started claiming ownership of the company after they created 99,000,000 shares and allocated such to themselves in 2024. This is the basis for the police case that was concluded regarding River Park in June 2025, and which led to Mensah being charged to court alongside his lawyer, Abu Arome.
“While we are not worried by claims by the Ghanaians, we commit every Nigerian to read the truth in the police report made public on June 27”, stated.
According to him, the status report of the company between 2006 and 2020 and how it was allegedly manipulated between 2024 and 2025, were available in the report.
He explained that the company was eventually sold to Paulo Homes Limited in 2025, with the South African Chief Executive Officer, Mr. John Townley-Johnson of Houses for Africa Holdings Inc. (the initial foreign investors in River Park) with his endorsement.
Ogunmuyiwa described the entire scenario as a test for Nigeria’s justice system and corporate security at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), which he accused of allowing unauthorized alteration of “our) approved records at their office.”
Adding: “In view of the aforementioned, we duly authorized the filing of the action in Suit No: FHC ABJ CS/1869 2025 by our recognized counsel, Oluwabunmi Adebiyi, because we believe that the court is where we can get full redress”, he said.
