Rivers APC fumes over Sowore’s comments on Tinubu, Wike

• States will get more money under Tinubu, FCT minister assures

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Federal Government to take a tough stance on the 2023 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, over his recent attacks on President Bola Tinubu and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

A factional state chairman of the party, Tony Okocha, made the call in a statement yesterday, urging Nigerians to stand up against people he described as “rascals and nitwits” desiring to rub the integrity of the country in the mud.

Okocha said that spreading false news with a clear intention to overreach or defame the other’s character or integrity is unacceptable. Okocha described Sowore’s allegations against Tinubu and Wike as baseless. He further stated that Sowore’s statements may incite public unrest, sowing distrust and discord in institutions with the intention to destabilise the country.

Okocha stated: “Recently, Sowore launched another wave of falsehoods against President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

These baseless allegations are nothing more than the bitter rantings.”

“What an infra dig for a sane citizen of a country to say that the President, or whatever nomenclature used to refer to the highest office holder, is a “criminal”. He urged Nigerians to stand up against such individuals.

Meanwhile, the FCT Minister, Wike, yesterday, disclosed that the President would ensure that states get more money to carry out their projects. Wike disclosed this during the commissioning of the Ikot Esu–Otomo-Azumini Road. The minister was earlier received by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, in Uyo, the state capital.

At the event, Wike noted that states are getting more money under Tinubu, stressing that more money would still go to states. On his part, the governor said the state is united and would support Tinubu’s second term. He disclosed that the President is stabilising Nigeria’s economy, adding that he has made funds available to governors.
