The Rivers State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said its personnel would conduct a two-day inspection of driver’s licence to stem reckless driving.

The Command said the exercise, tagged: “Operation Show Your Licence”, would serve as a means of improving security in the state.  The Sector Commander, in charge of the Rivers State Command, Corps Commander, Salisu Galadunci, in a statement signed by the Public Enlightenment Officer, Route Commander (RC), Juliana Eni, said the move became necessary after discovering the rate at which motorists drive without driver’s licence in the state.

Galadunci, who noted the rate at which motorists speed on the highways within the Port Harcourt metropolis is worrisome, raised the need to checkmate it, by ensuring motorists, who ply the roads are first of all licenced to drive.

He, however, said the special operation would commence today, April 4, to Friday, April 8. He directed operatives to embark on special enforcement to clamp down on those who go against the laws in Port Harcourt, Eleme, Ahoada, Isiokpo and Bonny Island, for not driving with a driver’s licence and other violations of traffic rules and regulations, to instill discipline in drivers on the highways.
