Rivers: Three suspected cultists die in gun duel

Three suspected cultists have reportedly been killed in a supremacy battle between suspected Greenland and Iceland cult groups on the East-West road section of Ahoada East Local Council of Rivers State.
The Guardian gathered that the shooting resulted in pandemonium as residents in the area scampered for safety while shop owners hurriedly closed businesses for the day.
A source in the community, who pleaded anonymity, said the shooting stopped when the Ahoada East Police Division led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) arrived at the scene and gave the hoodlums a chase.
According to the source, the timely arrival of the DPO and his men stopped the cultists from overrunning the town on Saturday night.
Community sources also disclosed that there were serious Police patrols in and around Ahoada on yesterday (Sunday).
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe Koko, said the shooting was a result of cult rivalry between two cult groups.
She revealed that two of the dead cultists Mr. Azhinibudu Biko, aka Yankee, aged 35 years, and Gboka Odoi, aged 37 years, were notorious criminals terrorising the Ahoada section of the East-West road and its environs.
The PRRO added that efforts are on to arrest fleeing members of the gang.
