Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun trains 1,000 on vocational skills

Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun District 9110 will today, September 5, 2022, hold graduation ceremony for 1,000 trainees of vocational skills at the UNDP Skills Acquisition Centre in Oshodi-Isolo Local Council, Oshodi, Lagos.

Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun District 9110 will today, September 5, 2022, hold graduation ceremony for 1,000 trainees of vocational skills at the UNDP Skills Acquisition Centre in Oshodi-Isolo Local Council, Oshodi, Lagos. 

According to President Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun, Rotarian Kudirat Ola Opoola, the five-week vocational skills training was conducted for unemployed youths by the club in partnership with council led by its Chairman, Mr. Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof and the Centre. 

Participants were trained on make over, fashion and tailoring, catering, event planning, venue decoration, tie and dye of batik and adire, gele tying, hat making, computer graphic designs and cake making. 

Opoola added that “financial empowerment and handing over of donated equipment shall be conducted by the Rotary International District Governor, Omotunde Lawson and Almaroof.” 

Earlier, during an inspection visit to the training centre, Almaroof, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Leke Banjoko, enjoined the trainees to make better use of the skills to become notable entrepreneurs to better the society. 

Also, Lawson charged the trainees to continue to advance their knowledge base and practice as start ups and earn decent living as entrepreneurs.

The graduands, apart from receiving certificates, are to be financially empowered with various tools of trade and equipment: hair dressing machines for hair dressers, sewing machines for fashion designers, laptop for graphic designers, among others.
