Rotary Clubs of Gbagada, Ikeja celebrate yuletide with hospital patients

The Rotary Club of Gbagada visited Gbabada General Hospital, Lagos to felicitate with the patients and give them gifts for yuletide. They also encouraged the hospital workers by giving them awards in different categories.

President of the club, Rotn. Adefowoke Williamson, said they were there to thank God for life and celebrate with the patients. “This is the tradition of our club. We come here every year to felicitate with patients and encourage the members of staff with awards.”

The District Governor, District 9110, comprising Lagos and Ogun states, Dr. Adewale Ogunbadejo, said the club was at the hospital to look after the sick in line with one of the six areas of focus of Rotary and to show the patients the love of Jesus Christ.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Bayo Lawal, said the club has been visiting the hospital annually to felicitate with patients since the inception of the hospital 33 years ago, adding that the club built the children ward.

Also, the Rotary Club of Ikeja paid its annual Christmas visit to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where it donated equipment and award outstanding officers of the hospital.

The Best Doctor award was won by Dr. Balogun Oluwadamilare; Miss T.A. Ogidan emerged Best Nurse; Mrs. Christianah Ogidan emerged Best Junior Staff and Mr. Akanni Jamiu won the Most Punctual Staff.

Present at the occasion were representative of the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Mrs. Taiwo, CMD of LASUTH, Prof. Adewale David Oke; president of the club, Rotn. Niyi Adelaja; and District Governor, Dr. Wale Ogunbadejo.

In celebration of the Yuletide, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 1 held a Christmas party with the theme: “Priceless Gift” at CMD Road, Magodo, Lagos. Pastor in charge of Region 1, Assistant General Overseer, Admin. & Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, who spoke through his Personal Assistant, Provincial Pastor in charge of Province 12, Pastor Ola Adejubee, said the party was held to celebrate Jesus, the special gift of God to mankind.

He assured Nigerians that next year would be a new and better beginning, where people will witness uncommon appreciation of good virtues that have deteriorated in this country which would manifest in food production, value of Nigeria currency, nationalism and patriotism of the people.
