The Rotary E-Club of Ewutuntun Global has screened more than 200 Primary One pupils for vision and hearing impairments in Igbesa, Ogun State, as part of efforts to promote early detection of health conditions that could affect children’s learning and development.
The outreach, supported by a Rotary Global Grant, provided comprehensive eye and hearing assessments for pupils across participating schools.
According to the club, the initiative aligns with Rotary International’s commitment to improving access to healthcare and ensuring that children receive timely medical interventions that enhance their academic performance and overall well-being.
Pupils identified with possible vision or hearing impairments were documented for further medical evaluation and appropriate intervention.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Rotary Global Grant Project Implementation Committee, Rotarian Lanre Odude, alongside members of the Rotary E-Club of Ewutuntun Global, who coordinated the exercise.
Speaking during the outreach, the Club President, Rotarian Adedolapo Ayoola, said the initiative was aimed at eliminating preventable barriers to learning.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn without preventable barriers. By identifying vision and hearing challenges early, we are giving these children a better chance to succeed both in the classroom and in life. This project reflects Rotary’s enduring commitment to service above self and our resolve to create lasting impact in our communities,” Ayoola said.
School administrators, teachers, parents and community leaders commended the club for bringing essential healthcare services directly to schoolchildren.
The Rotary E-Club said the vision and hearing screening project forms part of its broader commitment to implementing sustainable community initiatives focused on health, education and the welfare of vulnerable populations.
