Rotary gives e-learning equipment to school


In fulfillment of its mandate under Basic Education and Literacy, one of its six areas of focus, Rotary International has supplied N2.5 million worth of e-learning equipment to Okota Junior Grammar School.

The equipment was jointly donated by District 9110, Nigeria, District 9455, Australia, District 3610, South Korea, Rotary Foundation with the support of 17 Rotary clubs, including that of Okota and Isolo in District 9110.

During the commissioning and handing over ceremony of the equipment, arranged in three different classrooms, which include interactive board, projector, laptop computers, e-content to aid teaching and 2.3KVA generator to the principal of the school, Mrs Oduguwa Taiwo, at the school premises, Assistant Governor, District 9110, Kamal Oladele Opoola, who represented the District Governors of Lagos and Ogun States, Rot. Bola Oyebade, said the project, which started in 2018 under the Past District Governor, Kola Sodipo, cut across 12 public schools with each of the projects costing N2.5 million.


President, Rotary Club of Okota, Gabriel Ogugua, said the global grant project was meant for the students to have access to on-line training, adding that provision of the equipment within their reach would enhance their learning. He promised effective monitoring of the equipment.

President, Rotary Club of Isolo, David Taiwo, congratulated the students and advised them to appreciate the privilege by making good use of the various items.

Service project chairman, Rotary Club of Okota, Titilope Okubadejo, said the e-learning cut across all subjects which would help them to assimilate well as she advised the students to use them in a proper way.

Mrs Oduguwa Taiwo appreciated the efforts of Rotary and gave assurance of proper maintenance of the equipment as the school looks forward to more assistance in future.

At the ceremony were Mrs Sholola Adenike from the office of Education, Quality Assurance, Zone 20; Deputy Director, Mrs Solarin Mojisola, who represented Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Mrs Oyebisi Okelola; Baale of Ilasamaja, Abereijo Fatai Adesina, among others.
