The National President of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Dr. Musa Muhammed Maitakobi, has enjoined members of the association to remain law abiding and eschew conduct capable of leading to disturbance of public peace.

Maitakobi gave the charge during the inauguration of the new executive committee of Ekiti State chapter at the RTEAN headquarters in Abuja, at the weekend. He stressed that justice; equity and friendliness should serve as the key to success of the organisation.

He noted that days are gone when members resort to self-help by taking laws into their hands and appealed to the new chairman and executive of Ekiti State chapter to carry everybody along, noting that listening to sycophants and double-dealers constitute the bane of good leadership.

Specifically, the RTEAN President told the Ekiti State chairman, Sunday Adeola: “You should understand at all times, that yesterday, you were a follower, but today, you have become a leader. So, in words and actions, you have to be a model of good conduct and set good examples for your followers.”

In his remarks, Comrade Adeola said the inauguration came as a dream come true, assuring that RTEAM members in Ekiti would shun everything that is capable of causing crisis in the state.

Adeola commended the national chairman for finding him worthy to be honoured with the appointment, even as he prayed that God will imbue him with “knowledge, wisdom and understanding to give RTEAN members courage to protect the association’s reputation wherever they find themselves.

The Ekiti chairman described the national president as God-sent, saying that Ambassador Maitakobi has continued to lay foundation for purposeful and responsible leadership in RTEAN.

Adeola stated: “I wish to call on all members to show commitment and work together as a team to uplift the association, not only in the states, but also Nigeria in general. Since the inception Ambassador Maitakobi’s tenure as RTEAN National President, stakeholders in the transport sector have come to know him as reformer and the association has recorded progressive achievements.”
