Rwandan authorities have closed all substandard restaurants and one hotel frequented by tourists in Rubavu town, about 160 km northwest of the capital, Kigali.
The move is as the country readies to host, from this weekend, the 2016 Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Closed facilities include Stipp Hotel which was earmarked for accommodation of Mali and Zimbabwe national teams in Rubavu.
Other teams taking part in the championship will stay in Kigali and the southern town of Huye.
According to officials in Kigali, this year’s tournament will cost RwF 16 billion (around 214 million dollars) to be disbursed by the Rwandan Government in collaboration with the African Football Confederation
