MTN launches MyLagosApp
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has implored residents and business stakeholders to collaborate with the state government to build a smarter, more efficient, and more inclusive Lagos that sets an example for cities around the world.
Sanwo-Olu, who spoke, yesterday, during the launch of MyLagosApp, represented by his deputy, Dr Kadril Obafemi Hamzat, was optimistic that the App would simplify city navigation and enrich the urban experience by connecting people with the vibrant offerings of Lagos.
“This launch is a momentous occasion that marks a significant milestone in our journey to transform Lagos State into a leading smart city in Africa,” he said.
He noted that technology had evolved from being a luxury to a necessity, saying that in a fast-paced world, effectively utilising technology can significantly enhance governance, improve service delivery, as well as simplify and enrich the life of every resident in the state.
“MyLagosApp is a comprehensive digital platform designed with Lagos residents in mind. It provides seamless access to essential city services. From real-time traffic updates and personalised navigation to emergency services.
“In a dynamic metropolis like Lagos, access to timely and accurate information is critical. Developed in collaboration with MTN and the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, the MyLagos App is set to revolutionise how we connect with our city,” the governor stated.
Sanwo-Olu also said that the application would serve as a vital link between the government and its citizens, simplifying access to public services, providing real-time updates, and promoting transparency and accountability.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Nigeria, Karl Toriola, who was excited about the launch of the App, said that it was a transformative step aimed at supporting residents and visitors in their interactions within Lagos.
He was optimistic that Lagos would become the number one city in Africa with the highest Gross Domestic Product. Toriola noted that connectivity is critical to any society and economy and MTN is very proud of the connectivity it provides Nigerians.
